NOTIFICATION OF NOMINATION AND ELECTIONS ALL ACTIVE AND RETIRED MEMBERS OF AMALGAMATED UAW LOCAL 887 OFFICER ELECTIONS
In accordance with the provisions of the Local Union Bylaws, the requirements of the International Constitution, and Federal Law, the Executive Board recommends to the Joint Council for their consideration, the following procedure for nominations, acceptance, dates, places, and times for the election for Local Union Executive Board Officers, Board Members at Large, Local Union Retired Chapter Board Member and Unit and Divisional/Unit Chairpersons (in respective Units and Divisions/Units):
- That notices be posted on the implant bulletin boards on May 7, 2023, notifying all eligible members in local 887 with one (1) year of continuous good standing immediately prior to the opening of nominations, that they are automatically nominated for the following Local Union offices and Unit and Division/Unit Chairpersons (in respective units and divisional/units). In exception to the foregoing a member must be retired in order to run for the office of Local Union Retired Worker Chapter Board Member:

* Election to the above designated offices may also require designation as delegate by UAW Regent 6 and/or Western States Community Action Program (CAP) Bylaws.
- In addition to the automatic nominations any member desiring to nominate another member for any of the any positions listed above, may do so, providing they submit the nominee's name division and serial or Social Security number in writing to the Local Union Financial Secretary or his designated representative either in person or by certified mail (return receipt requested) to the Local Union Service Center, 650C Commerce Ave. Palmdale CA 93551. Such submissions must be received no later than 5:00 PM Wednesday May 24, 2023, in order to be honored. It shall be the duty of the member making the nomination to ensure the nominee is aware of the nomination and his or her obligations to accept such nominations within the deadline.
- Nominations are to open at 11 AM Monday May 22, 2023, and will close at 5:00 PM Wednesday May 24, 2023.
- Acceptance procedure: members desiring to accept as candidates for any of the foregoing listed officers, must do so by completing an acceptance form, available at the union service center 650C Commerce Ave. Palmdale CA 93551 and Elks Lodge 20925 Osborne St. Canoga park CA 91304 and submitting it either in person or by certified mail (return receipt requested) to the Local Union Financial Secretary or his designated representative at the Union Service Center 650C Commerce Ave. Palmdale CA 93551. Such submissions must be received no later than 5:00 PM Wednesday July 29, 2023, in order to be honored. Any acceptance received after the deadline will not be honored.
- All members are to receive a 15 day notice of the election in accordance with the provisions of the International Constitution.
- The drawing for the ballot positions be held at the Union Service Center, 650C Commerce Ave. Palmdale CA 93551, at 5:00 PM on Wednesday May 24, 2023.
- The election will be held on Wednesday June 22, 2023, between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

- The additional election information including the place of auxiliary voting locations, if necessary, will be placed on the implant bulletin boards and, on our website, uawlocal887.org.
- That in case a runoff election is necessary, it will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2023, between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM at the above listed locations as required.
- That the rules for challengers and local union elections heretofore in use will be continued.
- The local Union Election Committee is authorized to deputize additional members necessary to assist in the conduct of the election.
